STAND-UP FOR SLUMS
A campaign to enable dignity for our essential workers by transforming the slum communities they live in.
WHO WE ARE
Built Empathy is a non-profit action-lab dedicated to enabling community development through design.
We improve livability in Indian cities by making public & community spaces safer, sustainable and more inclusive for under-served communities through participatory design processes.
With a practice rooted in human-centered design, we bring design to the communities that need it most.
KEY AFFECTING SYSTEMS
With empathy, sustainability, and inclusivity at its core, we design with an awareness of the urban systems affecting spaces:
Urban Environmental Design
Health & Sanitation
Waste Management
Energy & Environment
Sustainable Production & Consumption
We are dedicated to supporting the UN Sustainable Development Agenda 2030.
WHAT WE DO
RESEARCH & POLICY
We engage in policy implemention efforts and use citizen support to catalyze visible impact.
DESIGN ACTION
We work with communities, organisations and governments to translate plans to reality using research.
OUTREACH
We engage with different citizen groups for empowerment towards change-making in the built environment.
OUR APPROACH
DESIGN THINKING
Design Thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designer's toolkit to integrate the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success.
BEHAVIOURAL DESIGN
Behavioural Design is concerned with how design can shape, or be used to influence human behaviour. It is a high-impact, low-cost way of nudging people to take the desired action.
Improve livability for people living in poverty
Become a part of a community of people caring about our cities and communities.
